Dog Days of Summer | Houston Baby Photographer

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but there have been quite a few proverbial crickets chirping on this end lately. The “Dog Days” of Summer are in full-swing, making it quite hot for outdoor sessions, yet perfect timing to rest up and catch up on my ever-growing to-do list…such as feeding my toddler icky snacks disguised as something healthy (i.e. “baked” cheetos in lieu of real ones)…

I try not to get junky food too often, but she really seemed interested in these and I thought we’d give it a try. Apparently one of her favorite things is carrying a snack bag around all by herself and feeding the dogs when she thinks I’m not looking…I like how she’s trying to entertain her puppy with funny faces as well…

(Yeah, you can tell I’m completely smitten with my own child when I post several photos of her doing almost exactly the same thing…Just because I love her expressions and can’t get enough!)

…So, what else do we do around here when attempting to rest and it’s too hot outside to sip lemonade on the patio while O plays in the backyard?…Why, we bake of course! Miss O seems to enjoy helping too. Above is the Peach-Blueberry Cobbler I made using a recipe from my iPhone “Whole Foods” App (it’s a free App – Once downloaded, if you just do a search for peach cobbler it’s one of the three options that come up). I’d post the recipe here, but the truth is it wasn’t really great…yet. I think the crust could use some tweaking (or maybe I just over-mixed it). But if I work out something fun, I’ll happily share it.

Business & Blog Update: I am happily booking sessions for August-October (though weekends are filling up quickly…email me soon if you’re interested). I then have some lovely “Baby’s 1st Year” clients through December…I can’t wait to see how those bebes have grown! I’m slowly adding a Photography Portfolio section to this blog and hope to fill the right-hand column with links that make it easier to navigate the blog, as well as some other fun goodies. Of course, that may take a little time, but I’m hoping to have most of these changes in place by the Holidays (that’s right – I have to plan far in advance!). I’d love to hear any other suggestions you may have – for things you’d like to see here, or feedback regarding topics you’ve enjoyed seeing here in the past.

Whew, I’m long-winded today! Thank you for reading and have a great weekend! XX
