A Belated July 4th Greeting

July 4, 2012…Up all night with the little lady, groggy as all get-out in the morning, but hubby insisted we make it to the neighborhood parade, despite the fact that I had yet to adequately decorate her stroller for the affair. Nevermind, a patriotic dress and an American flag should suffice!…

…A bit tricky to get great photos of these two while chatting with neighbors and enjoying the fanfare of the parade, but I think you can see that they really have fun together. He knows JUST how to make her laugh… seriously. In this case, it was by brushing her head through the trees and pretending he didn’t notice they were there so she would have to squeal and duck…

The parade was only a few blocks long but SOO fun and it made me forget about all of the funny concerns I have about whether we’re going to outgrow our sweet little house, the repairs we can’t wait to do on it, etc, and appreciate instead how great it is to live in a safe and welcoming neighborhood with people who genuinely care about creating a sense of community (sometimes a rarity in a big city)…So neat to see adults donating their time and money in order to create memorable experiences for the kids…For instance, everyone got a prize for participating and there was even a snow-cone booth with complimentary red, white, & blue snow-cones for all…

…Quite possibly our favorite part! Of course Pregnant Mama here had to rush home and collapse on the couch after the heat and lack of sleep, but it was oh-so-worth-it. What did you do to celebrate the Holiday?…
