A Little Bit ‘O Silly | Houston Newborn, Child, & Family Photographer

Just a little silliness this morning…Miss O has lately taken to playing care-taker. I mentioned in a previous post that she treats her stuffed animals (called “doggies” or “goggies”, and sometimes “bee-bee’s”) like they were in fact little babies. Other than when she tosses them across the room or out of the crib, of course. I mean, I hope that isn’t how she’ll treat her real baby brother when he arrives.

With all of the sweet caring going on, I thought I’d get her an actual baby doll. Before having a daughter I thought it was odd to encourage young toddlers to push around babies in strollers and mimic their mothers so much. But, now that she’s 20 months and in this stage where she is really aware of all of the things we do together on a daily basis, I think it’s really neat to see her try to act out the same routines with her “goggies” and “bee-bee’s”. So, we got a baby doll and, I kid you not, that poor doll has been naked ever since. I used to try to put clothes back on it after Miss O was asleep, but as soon as she’d see the doll in the morning she’d insist we take its clothes off. Which is kind of fitting since she doesn’t want to wear clothes herself these days…

So yes, this is our daughter, wearing a snowman pajama top, big girl pull-ups, sitting on our unfinished deck, and trying to wash her naked baby with (CLEAN!) water from the dog’s water bowl…Oh dear, I almost cringe with embarrassment, but it’s so stinkin’ cute, I just had to share regardless.

And, in case you caught that snippet above, yes indeed we are having a BOY. We just found out last week. I was slightly thrown off, since all I know is GIRL…I was almost expecting it to be another girl, but he is all boy…and kicking up a storm. We are getting quite excited. Now, to redo the nursery (since they’ll be sharing)! Look out Pinterest, here I come!…
