How Does Your Garden Grow? | Houston Baby Photographer

My Grandmother is this AMAZING gardener…It seems like she can keep any plant alive and thriving. It is truly inspiring. A few years ago she gave me a small window sill plant and I was so certain that it too would meet with the same cruel fate that every other house plant in my possession had ever met with…but alas, it’s blooming like crazy and very much alive. (I credit her for this because she basically tells me exactly how to care for the plant, leaving little room for me to screw things up.) So, for her Birthday Gift, I thought of Ashley Ann‘s DIY* post on garden labels which was soo cute. I put together a “potted” gift by decorating an inexpensive terra-cotta pot from Lowe’s with Heather Bailey fabric and gardening twine. Inside I positioned pretty gardnening tools, bright green gloves, some seeds, a super-cute paper pinwheel from PaperPolaroid, just for fun, and I sewed some fun things onto some inexpensive, thick washcloths from Target, a la Ashley’s post. The idea is that they are for her to “wipe her brow” with while working up a sweat in the garden. Lastly, I made a paper “Happy Birthday” flag and glued it around a wooden skewer from the grocery store.

It was fun, and fairly quick, to make! We’re looking forward to a great week and hope you are too!

{Happy Monday!}
